At this moment...
Up-date ---Terry Price to follow Rhodes to Iowa State---Hare-Dye Matters wants to wish Coach Price well and good luck with the new job.
Some People Just Don't Get It
BAD Decision!!! That is all we can say about Marks decision to go into the draft selection process. Some young men just will not listen to reason--even if it is starring you right in the face. Marks is not ready--not big or strong enough and one more year on the Plains could make a tremendous difference as to his ability to survive the NFL process. His former D-line coach clearly showed his concern for the decision when he made Marks he would promise to finish his degree. All of us here at the Hare-Dye Matters blog want to second that motion "Finish your degree!!!!"
On similar subject look for Colman to make the same mistake .....sometimes the domino effect is to much to stop. But look for Powers to show more "thought" and make the right decision even though he would probably have the best chance to make the NFL a career--- not totally based on skill but also on his knowledge of the game.
We all wish Marks the best and hope we are wrong on his prospects but regardless......FINISHING THE DEGREE IS NOT UP FOR DEBATE

Looking UP!!!!!!
GREAT news on the new OC hire (Gus Malzahan) of Tulsa/Arkansas fame. He will be the best OC Auburn has had since the early 90's and will bring an explosive approach to the game. For all you AU folks "thinking" (and you Bama fans that are sitting around "hoping") that this is just another Tony Franklin please understand this "you are totally wrong"!!!! Malzahan has created concepts on the offensive side of the ball that are revolutionizing offense formations. From his up tempo/smash mouth style (on the surface those two terms might seem to contradict each other unless you know/understand Malzahan's approach) to the "Wild Hog"/"Wild whatever your school mascot is" formation (Miami Dolphins are also utilizing this formation)--the one common denominator that Malzahan brings is SUCCESS. He knows how to take what hes given and create a winner. Auburn folks should be very excited and the recruits should be fired up.
Recruiting game plan should be:
* Win back Cotton---AU future rests on his shoulders---he has all the tools that a guy like Malzahan could turn into an All American quarterback.
* Firm up McCalebb--he is like nailing jelly to the wall when it comes to his commitment level but a Malzahan offence can really use a guy like McCalebb and turn him into another Harven
* Get Kenney to realize that Ga's QB is headed to the NFL and that Kenney's best chances to shine rest with Malzahan
* Call Lutzenkirchen and Perkins and tell them to get back in Auburn's court and realize they are going to have a tremendous opportunity to succeed under an offensive led by Malzahan.
* Win over at least one EXISTING Bama commitment and one in the state of Alabama prospect that all the experts have thrown to SABAN.
Note: Chizik and company also need to talk Colman-Marks-Powers to hang around one more year----they are not ready ---and any one with an eye for football can see that they are not.
WAR EAGLE and keep up the good work!!!!!

Work in Progress
Off to a great start with the hire of the new OC from Tulsa! The retention of Coach Willis was also a great decision. The only disappointment so far, is the decision by Stacy Searls to pass on the offer of OL coach. Recruits are reporting their excitement to the press. We continue to look forward with great anticipation to the new Auburn staff that Coach Chizik is building. More to come... WAR EAGLE!!!

Christmas with Auburn
Welcome to the inaugural edition of Hare-Dye Matters!!! We get the inside story that address' what readers really need to know. Right now the main focus should be on coaches ---that is finding the best ones out there and getting them to agree to buy into Coach Chizik's vision for our program---thus becoming Auburn assistant coaches. That should be Coach Chizik's focus for the next week as we head into the all important Jan. 4th recruiting date (the next date coaches can make in-home visits with recruits). Looking forward to what awaits Auburn Football in 2009---War Eagle and Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!
